Arthritis is not always an “old person” condition. There are some forms of arthritis that have symptoms present as early as 2-5 years of age. Often symptoms can be misdiagnosed if they are present in a young, healthy, fit person.

The most common symptoms of arthritis include;

  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Reduced range of motion

Arthritis might be a condition that primary affects bones and joints, but many types of arthritis can have symptoms that are associated with other systems of the body. This can include circulation to hands and feet, digestive system, heart and lungs, even your eyes can present symptoms associated with arthritis. Muscles can also be largely impacted by arthritis. This can aggravate the arthritis symptoms and make joint pain even worse. The osteopaths at Southern Osteopathy are able to identify the link between your arthritis and sore muscles. We use this knowledge to tailor a treatment and rehabilitation plan that can best help you.
