Taping is a great technique used to help provide stability and improve the tissue healing in a muscle, tendon, ligament or joint.

There are two types of tape Anna and Tayla can use to help with your pain and injury;

  1. Rocktape
  2. Rigid sports tape

Rocktape is a flexibility tape that helps to decompress the injured area and provide improvement in nerve pathways, blood flow and lymphatic drainage. It can provide support to a joint or muscle while still allowing it movement in the area. Injuries I commonly use rocktape on include; plantar fascitis, shoulder impingement, knee pain, elbow pain, carpal tunnel, postural pain, achilles injury and back pain.

Rigid tape, or sports tape, is used to help prevent a sports injury in a vulnerable joint and used to help provide stability to a joint. This tape is used to help limit movement in an acute injury, which will help prevent aggravation of the pain. For example, if you have an acute low back injury, bending forward can be a trigger for the pain. Therefore, tape is used to restrict movement in that direction. I often use this tape for athletes before they play sport (ankles, shoulder and knee most commonly), acute back injuries and pre operative patients to help reduce irritation on an injury before surgery.
